Karen Winters Schwartz joins OOB again to talk about her new book, Reis’s Pieces: Love, Loss, and Schizophrenia, where, like in her first novel Where Are the Cocoa Puffs’ A Family’s Journey Through Bipolar Disorder, she again tackles the subject of mental illness. She received her undergraduate degree in microbiology, her Master of Science in Immunology, and a Doctorate in Optometry.
Winters Schwartz is an active board member of NAMI Syracuse (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and an advocate for mental illness awareness.
