Diana E. Hess is the co-author (w/ Paula McAvoy) of  THE POLITICAL CLASSROOM: Evidence and Ethics in Democratic Education.  This will be focus of the interview. It is based on a large mixed-method study about discussions of political issues within high school classrooms. One major question this book answers is how schools can prepare students to become knowledgeable and engaged citizens of our democracy.

Diana Hess is the Senior Vice President of the Spencer Foundation and a professor of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
