Musician, cellist and educator
Simkin is an Associate professor of Performance Studies in the School of Music at
Ithaca College.
She has also served for seven summers on the artist-faculty of the Bowdoin International Music festival.
A classical cellist, she is a member of the Sheherezade Trio with violinist, Susan Waterbury and pianist,
Jennifer Hayghe. She also works with the group, Tandemonium, a yoga dance and music collective with
original music she creates with Joe Smellow. She has performed in recitals and chamber music festivals,
(including Garth Newel, Roycroft, Skaneateles, Olympic, Tanglewood and Heifetz) throughout the country.
Teaching is a strong purpose for Elizabeth and she has guided more than 100 young cellists
in her 20 years of teaching.
