Poet, discusses her beautifully written memoir about her husband's sudden death "The Light of the World"
Alexander is currently a professor at Columbia University. She is author of of six collections of poetry,
including AMERICAN SUBLIME, which was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize. She composed and
delivered a poem, Praise Song for the Day at the 2009 inauguration of President Obama.
Her most recent book, and what we will discuss in this interview, is a compelling and beautifully
written memoir about the sudden death of her husband, in 2012, just days after his 50th birthday.
It is called THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD, and it was also a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize in 2015.
