In this is a fascinating conversation, Gaskin, known as “the mother of modern midwifery” talks about her nearly forty years at The Farm Midwifery Center in Summertown, Tenn, which she founded in 1971. She is leader of a movement that seeks to stop the hyper-medicalization of birth. Author of several books, her most recent is called Birth Matters: A Midwife’s Manifesta.
