Gourd artist

For over 20 years Ottoson worked as a midwife at Og-GYN Associates and at

September Hill Birth Center. She had been making art and doing crafting for many years

but in 2006 she discovered gourds and began making gourd art, including lamps, night lights

and carved gourd art pieces. She grows gourds on her land at Ecovillage, where she also

opened Gourdlandia, where she creates her works, teaches classes and offers artist studios.

Ottoson is a founding member of the NYS chapter of The American Gourd Society.
