Poet, editor and writer
Susan Deer Cloud is a poet, editor, writer and teacher. She is mixed lineage Catskill Mountain Indian, and writes powerfully about her experience as an American Indian and as a woman. She earned a B.A. & M.A. in Literature/Creative Writing from Binghamton University and an MFA in Creative Writing/Poetry from Goddard College. She have taught literature and creative writing at the college level.
Her work has appeared in many magazines and literary journals, including, Earth’s Daughters, Exquisite Corpse, Florida Review, Many Mountains Moving, Mid-American Review, Moondance, Nimrod, North Dakota Quarterly.
Deer Cloud is also the author of many collections of poetry, including Fox Mountain, Braiding Starlight, The Last Ceremony & Car Stealer. Her most recent collection is a beautifully written and very personal book called Hunger Moon.
